The most important lessons: planning is the key, be careful with promotion, if you’re not in top 3 you don’t exist, some products are more likely to gain traction on PH than others and there’s not much you can do about it.
Yesterday, November the 14th, we launched a new project called Lumber. These are the “behind-the-scene” events we wanted to remember and found valuable to share with other startups preparing their own launch. Enjoy!
After the initial wave of attention created by Product Hunt, Vectr was spotted and covered by some of the largest tech media outlets.
We got thousands of page views, a few hundred signups, and even some paying customers immediately. Since we have a 30-day free trial, we expect more paying customers to come within a couple weeks.
...we got ~9,000 views to our site, about ~200 signups and a handful of paying members.
Before we went public on PH there were 3–10 connections made daily on the platform and after the launch it has been 50–95 every day.
We have received a big burst of activity, including 10,000 reached goals, 10,000 installations, more than 8,500 registrations, approximately 300 user comments, and 23 articles in English, German, and Chinese.
More than numbers, that are anyway very interesting, we received compliments, moral-support and GREAT advice from a super-prepared audience.
We got 3rd on that day, which is quite good considering we weren’t prepared at all! Plus, on that day #1 was an Adobe product, and #2 was a Facebook product - two companies that have no problem getting all of the votes they need.
